[Whitepaper] Selling online after Covid-19 & Brexit: what’s inside

Top-selling items on marketplaces

Learn what sells best on eBay and Amazon & use our practical checklist to identify best-sellers on marketplaces.

What & where to sell online after Covid-19

Use our unique data from 158M products listed on eBay to identify products and markets with the highest sales potential. We checked around 820M product offers on different markets listed between 2018 and 2020 of around 60,000 eBay sellers.

The eBay sellers we analyzed were our customers selling on main eBay sites in Europe (the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain), the USA and Australia as well as a number of smaller eBay markets, e.g. Austria, Canada and Ireland.

The goal of our analysis

  1. Identify the types of products and international ecommerce markets with the highest sales potential
  2. Compare supply and demand to identify saturated markets / categories (i.e. when the supply is much higher than the demand)
  3. Check the impact of Covid-19 on sales in different markets / categories.

Key takeaways

  1. Maximizing product visibility is crucial for ecommerce sellers.
  2. There are product categories with big sales potential in all major markets.
  3. European sellers shouldn’t underestimate the sales potential of the US ecommerce market.

Product listing optimization

Proper listing optimization on marketplaces means more sales. However, optimizing product listings can be tricky, especially if you sell internationally.

This is what we’ve recently checked at Webinterpret. First, we’ve managed to better understand the role of optimizing product attributes for increased product visibility and conversion rates. Second, we’ve taken actions that have significantly increased our sellers’ listings visibility and revenue.

In the whitepaper, we’ll share with you what we’ve done to increase product visibility by up to 60% and sales by 20%.

Impact of Brexit on ecommerce

The impact of Brexit on ecommerce and the UK-EU trade in 2021 cannot go unnoticed: at the start of 2021 exports to the EU plunged by 68%.

During challenging times, such as Brexit, multichannel and multimarket sales strategy often allows sellers to plan and balance the sales between markets, spread their risk and make the most of diversification.

Learn about the initial disruption to the UK-EU trade and how online businesses have been reacting to Brexit-related changes. Find out how to prepare for what’s coming ahead.
